Tier 2 -- Leading and Managing for Optimal Performance

Course Description

Successful managers establish and maintain relationships, communicating effectively, even under pressure, and they are skilled at bringing resolution to various forms of conflict. They understand and respect the diversity of skills, styles, and cultures that employees bring to work and they know how to cultivate a work climate where respect and teamwork thrive. They understand the essentials of quality and process improvement and understand how to establish and achieve goals. In this phase, leaders will engage in various opportunities to better understand themselves and others, and will define the scope of their practicum, which is a project they will design to implement skills learned throughout this educational series.

Four days

Eligibility and Attendance Requirements

The following UWMC employees are eligible:

  • Supervisors
  • Managers
  • Executives

Tier 2 is the second phase of the Management Certificate Program. Supervisors and managers are required to complete Tier 1 of the Management Certificate Program before taking Tier 2

Completing all four days of this course is required before moving to “Tier 3,” the practicum project, presentation, and graduation session.
