Service Champion Education Series

A Service Champion is someone who consistently demonstrates the UWMC Standards for Service Excellence, modeling these behaviors and acting as a Service Excellence resource to patients, visitors and other members of UWMC faculty and staff.

This professional development opportunity, designed to support those in both leadership and front-line service delivery roles at UWMC, will cover three topic areas:

  1. Bringing Our Standards for Service Excellence to Life
Reviewing our 9 Service Standards will give participants a chance to discuss and commit to consistently practicing behaviors that most impact customer satisfaction.
  2. Communication Essentials: Responding to Service Challenges Mastering a few essential communication skills is key to effective service delivery. Participants will review and then practice some of these skills in response to common customer service challenges. Responding with confidence and managing your own reaction are included.
  3. Service Championship in Action
Service Champions are comfortable apologizing to customers and skilled at recovering from service breakdowns. The role that champions assume in resolving problems and working collaboratively with colleagues to prevent service breakdowns is emphasized. The importance of giving and receiving feedback is also reviewed and practiced.
