Service Excellence Award Program

The UW Medicine Service Excellence Award was established as collaboration among UWMC, Harborview and the UW Physicians Network to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of faculty and staff as they reflect the UW Medicine's Standards for Service Excellence.

Four staff, faculty and/or teams are selected to receive this award each quarter. Any faculty and staff can be nominated for the Service Excellence Award. Nominees must be a UWMC permanent employee for at least one year. Nominations will be considered in conjunction with feedback from the employee's supervisor.

The UWMC Service Excellence Award Committee, which is a subcommittee of the Recognition TEAM, selects the SEA recipients from among the nominees based on how the nomination letter explains how the employee exemplifies the standards of service excellence when interacting with patients, families and/or colleagues.  It’s up to the nominator to make this clear and provide quality examples. Nominations are valid for the quarter in which they are submitted, and will be shared with the nominee. You may nominate someone more than one quarter if they are not selected.

Recipients are honored with:

  • Reception
  • $75 MasterCard gift card
  • Certificate of recognition
  • Letter of acknowledgement from Paul Ramsey – CEO of UW Medicine and Dean of the School of Medicine
  • Star lapel pin
  • SEA poster display outside the Plaza Cafe and in the Roosevelt II lobby
